lake through string

For many of us, an ‘official’ dx has been years in the making. Years of wondering.  Fear.  Unknown.  For us, our loved ones, and most frustratingly … for our doctors. But hearing the words ‘You have …’ is still a shock.  And the best way of describing the next phase of your life, is comparing to the five stages of grief as first defined by Swiss psychiatrist, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross:

  • denial
  • anger
  • bargaining
  • depression
  • acceptance But (there is always a but), while we have our own journey to acceptance, so do our family.   And every new symptom, flare up, exerbation, relapse and progression, our journey to accept our new normal begins again.
